Home Remodeling for Aging in Place is not something all Boomers think of on a regular basis. Thousands of the older Baby Boomer generation turn 65 every day. And, as a result of growing older, they are living the ills that befall us all as we age; stiff joints, illness or other physical impairments that make getting around the home more difficult. It doesn’t make us invalids; just a part of the natural order of things. It also doesn’t mean that we will or should stop enjoying our homes.
On the contrary. With the advances in Universal Design and technology, our homes can be made to be livable by anyone, regardless of age or ability. So why wouldn’t a Baby Boomer want this for their home? Sometimes it is the cost of home remodeling, the inconvenience or even the fear of a home looking ‘sterile’. However, many times it is just not knowing what options are available.
Home Remodeling for Aging in Place
Home remodeling can take many forms. (We’ve gone into this in great detail on this site.) And, there is a growing trend of professionals who can provide these services. The one thing that is overlooked and ultimately important to the Baby Boomer is actively planning to stay in their home. Many seniors don’t start early enough and that seriously detract from successful aging in place.
