The goal of this Rocklin, California project was to create a universal kitchen by adding not only features that were usable to all ages, but appealed to all ages visually. As a remodel, the homeowners wanted rich color, layered light and accessibility.
Aging in place features:
Rollouts were added to cabinetry at all levels (even the tall run of cabinets has a roll out for the cat. Food is concealed and rolled out for eating ease!)
Lower table area for kids and family/upper bar for adults
Lowered sink area on other side of bar
Layered lighting overhead: general can lights+ accent lighting for island pendants+ task lighting under cabinets
Island size allows for wheelchairs and does not obstruct traffic patterns
Kitchen Remodeling Cost
$10,000 (paint, lighting, roll outs in cabinets)
